I Know a Small Girl Who Wanted a Pet (2nd ed)
(On Amazon CreateSpace)
This story is about a small girl’s desire to have a pet for a friend to cuddle and love. She explores possible pets, from a cricket to more traditional cats, dogs, and even cows and horses. But no pet seem right until a giraffe finds her, even doing helpful stuff like drying laundry on his neck. Like so many children, wanting and finding the right pet is tricky!
The story is bilingual in fun rhyme form (English and Spanish), designed to help Spanish speakers learn English and vice versa. The story is written for children ages 5-9. It has whimsical illustrations by Jessica Neilson, a recent high school graduate currently studying art and graphic design at Oregon State University.
At the end of the story is a dictionary of animals in the story, other animals, colors, numbers, as well as the nouns, verbs, and adjectives in this book. See if your child can find the little butterfly hiding on each page!
All profits from this book benefit Feed the Hungry, a non-profit organization that builds kitchens in impoverished schools in and around San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It provides school lunches to over 4,000 students each school day, making a difference in student success.
